Resident Program
Our Resident Theater Company Program aims to foster the growth of itinerant Chicago theatre companies by providing affordable performance spaces and resources to expand audiences.
Resident companies enjoy sharply reduced rental costs for the venue’s two 190-seat mainstages, expanded marketing support including dedicated subscription management with access to the Greenhouse’s patron database and access to the building’s many amenities including a full-service box office and bar.
The Resident Theater Company Program features a low weekly rental rate, priced at about half of our standard rent. The program also includes a profit sharing agreement, giving The Greenhouse and residents shared incentives to succeed while keeping the rental rate low.

A Joe & Melanie Thing Theatre Company
A Joe & Melanie Thing Theatre Company was founded in 2025 by two passionate creatives – one a Lincoln Park native, and the other a transplanted Hoosier. Joseph Anthony Rulli and Melanie Anne Apel focus on the world premiere performances of local playwrights. We provide bracing to our local artistic community through production opportunities in the works we present on stage. We support the Arts for real social advancement to become a bulwark against forces determined to stifle free expression of the human experience in any form.
Couch Penny Ensemble
Couch Penny Ensemble creates unique theatrical productions that blend movement, music, and a precise attention to detail. Using highly physical staging and bold visual language, we aim to externalize the inner lives of characters in grand, unconventional ways and embrace a spirit of maximalism. In pursuit of this vision, we also strive to make theatre accessible and affordable, offering unforgettable live experiences for all.
Ego Death Theatre Collective
Founded in 2023, Ego Death Theatre Collective is an ensemble of theatre artists committed to straightforward, honest theatre. We believe entertaining, engaging theatrical productions can be done as true exercises of community.
We are committed to the Chicago community, and to the development of new plays by local playwrights. We are dedicated to theatrical excellence, and are determined that the theatre we create be accessible to all.

Gwydion Theatre Company is an ensemble of tenacious young actors formed by childhood friends Grayson Kennedy and Tommy Thams out of the desire to impact the world with provocative storytelling. To make a space for young artists like them to gather and cultivate new perspectives, redefining the conventions of theatre for the next generation.

Young People's Theatre of Chicago
The Young People’s Theatre of Chicago (YPT) offers Theater for Young Audience (TYA) productions along with performance opportunities for children of all ages and backgrounds.
YPT is focused on partnering with community organizations, parents, educators, and local business leaders to provide thrilling and transformative theatre experiences for children from Lincoln Park and surrounding neighborhoods. These community partners will make it possible for local children of all ages – from toddlers to teenagers – to experience and participate in a wide range of transformative theatre experiences.
